KUKUI NUT

Kukui, known as the candlenut tree is sacred to Hawaiians and has many uses. Oil from the nuts provided light for ancient Hawaiians and is good for polishing wood. The flowers and nuts can be fashioned into a lei. Nuts are also made into a relish called inamona used in poke recipes. The Kukui nut tree is the Hawaii state tree.
